アメリカのシアトルにあるKing’s High Schoolのご一行が来校し、GLコースの生徒たちと交流をしました。
King’s High Schoolのご一行が本校に到着した後、さっそく１年生が校舎案内をしました。
もちろん案内はすべて英語です。
会話の中で本校の行事や部活について質問され、なかには日本独自のもので英語で表しにくいものもありましたが、みんなで協力しながら答えていました。
アメリカの高校は、大学のように自分自身で時間割を決めるため「クラス」の概念がありません。
そのため、クラスの教室の案内をしたときは彼らの目に新鮮に映ったことでしょう。
お昼はカレーライスを作りました。
材料は下北沢のスーパーで一緒に調達したものです。
英語でレシピを伝えながらドキドキのクッキングです。
うまく作れるでしょうか？
みんなで協力しながら、おいしいカレーができあがりました！
デザートのフルーツヨーグルトと一緒においしくいただきました。
料理を通して、親睦が深まりましたね。
グループごとに自己紹介をしたのち、日本とアメリカの文化の違いについてディスカッションをしました。
例えば、日本の学校は放課後に掃除をするのが普通ですが、アメリカでは生徒が掃除をする文化がなかったり、時間割を自分で決めるので「クラス」の概念がなかったりします。
話せば話すほど新たな発見があり、非常に興味深い、有意義な場となりました。
GLコースの生徒たちは日本とアメリカの文化の違いを学ぶと同時に、同世代の生徒たちとの交流を通して、海外をより身近に感じることができました。
Today, high school students from King’s High School in Seattle, USA, visited Seitoku and interacted with our students.
They mainly interacted with students in the Global Course.
The 1st graders showed the students around the school building.
The 2nd-grade students made curry and rice with them during a cooking class. 🍛
The 3rd grade students took part in a Discussion-style class with the students from Seattle.
The students who were nervous at first gradually relaxed and tried to communicate in English on their own.
In addition, the American high school students shared many different and unexpected interests about Japanese culture, food and places. It was an incredible day where Seitoku students learned a lot about American culture and how the students see Japan.
